Cozy corner

"Cozy corner"
I love a red/orange and blue/green combination...
Plus I really enjoy painting poppies. They can be quickly
overdone, by not making the paint transparent enough. I know
I've had to put a few paintings aside over the years that just
became too dark and heavy. Poppies are like tissue paper
and need the white of the paper to play an active part in portraying
them.

Love the poppies and I agree I love those color combinations as well. As always you have incredible negative painting forms, which is something I need to work on. Thanks so much for the view!

Hello Annelein. Your poppies drew me into your blog and I love your work. Really lovely watercolours. I have just spent the day doing a watercolour course, the subject was poppies! but mine don't look anything like yours.

Great post and painting. What size is the painting? Wish you'd include the sizes in your post. I took a workshop with JoanMcKasson.com in Mexico but my poppies never looked like hers or yours.

Thanks all for your comments...The size on this painting is 11" x 11" and I'll try to be more diligent in the future about putting my sizes in the post :)

They're a beautiful flower--so delicate and such rich colors. Lovely!
