Winter bird

A taste of things to come around here. I've been seeing the bright red flash of the male cardinal for a couple days now...they are so skittish. I grab the camera and away he goes. I have yet to see him on our birdfeeder...they like to eat whatever has fallen off the feeder from the ground. I'll stay vigilant and keep trying to capture him...either with camera or paint brush.

This painting makes me cold just looking at it. It is truly a winter vision.

I always love the first snow, perhaps even the second...from then on it becomes a nuisance.

Nicely done.

Great capture with the paint brush. Would make a terrific Christmas card.

Lovely snow, how did you do it? Was it masking fluid, or white sprayed with toothbrush? It is magical!

Thanks for your comments...The snow is actually white watercolor paint that I flicked on with a brush and with a toothbrush. The heavier snow on the branches is just less diluted paint and brushed on. I guess gouache would work well and be more opaque.
