"Henpecked"

This lady looks like another painting I did a little while ago...same position, but slightly different in details. I could paint her over and over again...the feathers are so much fun, plus the color combinations can be changed. Alizarin with Prussian, Sepia with Violet, Ultramarine with Magenta..well you get the idea...plus I get to experiment with mixing on my palette vs. on the paper....choices, choices...

Lovely one, Annelein. I have done a chicken that I just love but can't seem to recreate it. Looks like it's asking to become a print.
I think yours is absolutely stunning.

The sparkle in the eyes of the hen stands out. the roosters and the hens are fantastic. Is the grass in the foreground also negative painting? Or is there a dab or two of masking fluid? What ever it is the effect is mesmerizing!
