Kitchen Journal 8

I painted the peaches with a mix of various colors first. Indian Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Light, Chrome Orange and Carmine..then when that was dry I added a sketchy line around them and in the shadow sides with a red Sharpie ultrafine marker. The sharpie happened to be in the kitchen as well..so I decided to use it.

I love the washes of the peaches highlights. They give the feeling of peach skin: soft and fuzzy.
Thank you Annelein,
Irina

I just LOVE the addition of the red sharpie. Adds a bit of spontaneity to the piece. Also the splotches - looks like you were enjoying some red wine while in the kitchen. :)

Very interesting work. Lovely colors.

Thanks everyone for your comments! The splotches were actually pigment squeezed from my brush about 2 feet above the journal and they make such a satisfying "plop".
