Color Burst

It's been entirely too long since I posted a good old fashioned floral watercolor...Maybe it's because I've been exploring other subjects...but it's nice to paint blossoms again...this is "Bursting Forth", 15"x22". Sort of an explosion of colors, like fireworks on the Fourth.

Fabulous! Love the 'explosion'. I was wondering - it's been so long since I attended your workshop....do you sketch first, or are your floral watercolors done on the cuff and without a preliminary drawing? They're so clean, fresh and free.

Thanks everyone!..I sketch first to give myself a platform for my painting...but tend to veer a bit from my drawing and will invent blossoms or buds to enhance the composition once the painting unfolds...

Beautiful! Is this the one you were working on during Open Studio Weekend?
