"Reaching out"

(15"x17") This is a painting I did in May during an open studio event. I have so many photographs of different flowers, that I can paint any blossom any time of year...which is kind of nice..since our winters here in Vermont are 9 months long! well sort of, not really, but long enough!

The colors compliment each other beautifully and really make the flowers pop! I also love the way you've done the leaves. So interesting.

Gosh - that is long! What a gorgeous painting! It has a Barbra Fox look to it (which by the way is a massive compliment). Love it! :0)

Gorgeous peonies--and really masterful, beautifully done negative painting (something I'd like to do more of, but that I have trouble planning!).

Thanks for your nice comments everyone...it's funny Laura...but I don't really plan my negative painting, but just keep layering and layering ad infinitum :) I'll check out Barbra Fox

This painting is stunning! The pink really makes the flowers pop. I think I agree with you on the 9 month winters in Vermont. You can include mud season in that count. I lived in Vermont for 8 years. Currently, I'm in sweltering Texas.
