This piece was done during a Jeannie McGuire workshop. Her painting just won the Gold Medal of honor award at the AWS annual show. I really enjoyed trying some new techniques..she piles on the pigment, using opaque and transparent colors...using large flat brushes and putting paint down and taking paint away. It was an eye opening experience and made me experiment and try new things...(like titanium white!)

This is just wonderful! Love it!
Love the layers of colors and the light on the face! Sensitive work!
You mean there is titanium white watercolor paint? Hope to see you do more with it.
Must have been quite an experience- I missed it! The portrait looks really good,Tony.Congrats.
Love the largely red palette on this one. It just sings!
The painting's great! Don't you love it when we're pushed to try new things!
