Fresh laundry drying outside on the line...is there anything like it? Somehow the clothes feel fresher, you can add all the bounce and dryer sheets you'd like, but there's nothing like sun and air-dried wash. Unfortunately in busy lives there is hardly time for it. We'd save alot of energy, though...anyway an interesting subject with the criss-cross of cords and the daisies in the foreground. Could have kept the colors of the towels a bit less muddy...hmmmmm....maybe they need another wash!
Annelein, this has to be my favorite among the ones of yours that I have seen. I don't think it needs a second wash--consider it just a shadow that folds get when blowing on a line.

I love this piece, Annelein. I learned to use the outdoor dryer from my Vermont Mom and I have faithfully hung much of my wash on a pullout clothesline for years. In California the weather is so good that I can dry much of the year. Too bad that using the solar dryer is outlawed in many communities. I understand that Vermont has a right to dry law -- good going.
ReplyDeleteThe combination of wet in wet with hard edges create lot so magic, in this painting. Nice perspective with the disappearing woods in the background. Very strong composition. A winner!
ReplyDeleteOh I like this one! Not a typical Annelein painting, but lots going on that I like/appreciate in here!
ReplyDeleteLovely sketch Annelein, and don't worry about the colours of the towels - they'd match perfectly in my Safari-style decor!
ReplyDeleteLove the criss-crossing lines. This is a delight with the tree branches as well.
ReplyDeleteLovely colors and scene. I like how you have whites among all the colors. I too love to hang my clothes on the line outside and that was something we made sure was not banned when we were looking to buy a house many years ago :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! Brings back such fond memories. I remember my mother hanging clothes on the line - even in snow!
ReplyDeleteBrings back a lot of childhood memories. Love it!
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful! Can you tell me where you are located so I might consider one of your workshops? My email is donnab6464@gmail.com. Thanks!
ReplyDeletea very memory-rich garden scene, which causes many own beautiful pictures of the childhood.
