This is my portrait for the
Different Strokes blog end of year challenge. It measures 9"x6" and was really fun to do. I hope I captured this lady's likeness...I'll wait and see, since I have no idea who my mystery portrait person is....I'm going to wish everyone a Happy New Year, because I'll take the rest of the week off and get ready to start off with regular postings again in January. Thanks everyone for all your positive and encouraging comments throughout the year.
Wonderful, Annelein. The mystery artist should be pleased with this piece. I especially like the looseness of the lower part of the painting and the abstract shapes in the background, which suggest walls and a skylight to me, but what they are is not important. They help create a very strong design.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I like how loose you have kept your work while still capturing a likeness to the person. I think. I guess there is only one person who would really know. Well, maybe more. Great job anyway. I also like the rest of your blog. Good to see a nice mix of sketchbook fun and studio work.

ReplyDeleteYours is a beauty in a field of few watercolors, very painterly. Love your blog, especially the drawings and sketchbook entries. I wish more people would do them!
ReplyDeleteHi Annelein,
ReplyDeleteAn absolute delightful rendering. It's such a pleasure to wander thruout your painting and register all the nuances you produce. Love it. And, this happens in all your paintings. Unique and wonderful style you have.
Now that this challenge is over, it's been fun to connect with the mysterious subject each of us received, eh? Sorry to see that it's gotten too big of a job for Karin to keep up with. Will have to look for an equally challenging blog to join. Do you have any suggestions?
