"Hen Party"

I've been quoting Vincent Van Gogh lately in my workshops...he had said "don't quench your imagination, don't be a slave to your model." I take that to heart by not trying to paint exactly what I see...either from my reference photos or an actual still life or landscape etc..It's all about the impression of how you feel about the subject, what grabbed you about it...the color, composition, the light, the location etc...

  3. These gals are wonderful!!! I really like that some are looking right and some looking left...also the ground has such interesting colors as well as the hen in the front...lovely.

  4. Excellent advice!! These days, I work entirely from intuition and without any physical references. It's vastly improved my work. Your hens are gorgeous.
