This guy was quite happy to stroll along with two lovely ladies...I guess being flanked by a couple "chicks" is right up his alley. It's hard work being the only male in a full roost of hens! You need to be loud and protective and always be on your toes...Had fun with some richer colors like Quin Burnt Orange and my refound newest favorite Prussian Blue...
A luscious and rich painting! wonderful
ReplyDeleteYour work is superb!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors on this one and I'm intrigued by the background effect.
ReplyDeletegorgeous watercolour....the colors are so gorgeous..
ReplyDeleteWonderful color choices!!! Just love this piece!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors, and their personality. The background is very striking --as Paula so aptly put it --I too am intrigued by it:)
ReplyDeleteLove your roosters and hens. Nice colors!
ReplyDeleteRich is a perfect descriptor for this piece. I've seen these beautiful roosters and you've just so perfectly captured their colors, their personality. Beautiful work, Annelein.
ReplyDeletejust love your watercolor roosters. I know what you mean about prussian blue being refound and it is such a fun color to play with, so rich and dark, full of mystery. Never heard of that Quin Burnt Orange tho. I do enjoy oranges straight out of the tube and purples as well
ReplyDeleteHave a great day and look forward to your next rooster painting.

I really do love the striking colors of this one and the use of the prussian blue. I read somewhere that prussian blue is considered a pure blue substitute for cobalt blue, a very rich color.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! The background is a variety of earthtones and alot of scratching the wet surface of the paper with a cut credit card!
