This lovely lady was a joy to paint. I underpainted the shadow side with a wash of cerulean, which I rarely if ever do...so that's something new for me and I think I learned something...hmmm then the darker colors of the hen are actually sepia and a dioxazine violet that I let mingle on the paper. She's so deliciously plump!
yup, plump and beautiful
ReplyDeleteShe's moving right out of the picture plane! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh, she's classic! Hahaaa--love it. The cerulean underpainting is luscious--really gives it a wonderful look.
ReplyDeleteWonderful colors and I love the movement too!
ReplyDeleteThese colors are simply breathtaking!
ReplyDelete...I grew up with chickens walking all over our back yard - more so in the fall when the garden was pretty much "finished". You captured the movement perfectly. the colors on her breast are stunning - the background is perfect. Makes me think you have chickens of your own to study from. The peonies below are luscious too.
ReplyDeleteLove her face!
ReplyDeleteLook out! Here she comes.
ReplyDeleteI like the head on shot of this cutie....and this blue background.
