Tomorrow it will be a year since my father passed away...a year
without...but I treasure the over four decades I had
with him! I did this painting from an old B&W photograph of my Dad and I wonder if the shades of blue were a subconscious indication of my state of mind.
These anniversaries are hard, I know. I love the colors in this painting, especially the moody blues playing off against the spots of green and the reddish orange of his hands and the cushion behind him. This must have been a very satisfying process, painting this.
ReplyDeleteI think this is wonderful! There is such a dynamic feel about it and just the right amount of detail.
ReplyDeleteTo me, a viewer, the blues only serve to speak of joy...like sparkly blue jewels. Your love for your dad comes through very warmly even in blues. I'll be thinking of you as you remember and reminisce.
ReplyDeleteExquisite painting!
What a wonderful portrait of your dad, Annelein. Having just lost my own dad, I can relate to what you say here...thinking of you and your dear dad...
ReplyDeleteWonderful portrait of your dad. That's a great pose...kind of casual, contemplative. I'm drawn to your painting.

Your paintings are just more wonderful with every passing day. This is a fantastic tribute to your dad.....The colors, the faded face....Our memories begin to fade with time....I just love this! I'm sorry you had to recognize an anniversary of his loss.
ReplyDeleteYour love really shows. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteTruly a beautiful painting of your dad, Annelein. I too miss my dad; I only had him for just shy of 25 years. Your dad reminds me of Clark Gable in this poignant portrait.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tribute! Anniversaries are always hard but this is poignant portrait really shows your love!
ReplyDeleteMy Dad has been gone for years, but always just a thought away...he comes often to my heart and mind...Dad's are wonderful, aren't they? We were blessed. Carol
