tube pinks

Here is another peony painting done recently...they are such unique blooms with all those petals. I called this one "Thriving". Love dipping in to all my tubed pinks...but mixing them with eachother so as not to use anything "straight" from the tube...opera, quinacridone magenta, bright rose, diox. violet etc..etc.. Here and there a few blues in the shadows..you get the idea....

"P" series

Here are two more card sets available...I missed posting last Friday due to the head cold everyone seems to have around here...and in that head cold fog I listed my card sets as costing $23 instead of $25 (incl. S/H) last Weds...so I'm setting the record straight today...Drop me a line if you are interested in the "P" series of Poppies or Peonies..I also have Pansies, but I posted those the other day :)

Cards

These are two more card sets that I have available...spring flowers..the daffodils are starting to show up in the stores in tidy little bunches of ten...If you are interested in these cards please send me an email. You get two cards each of the four designs (total 8 cards) for $25.00 including S/H. It's fun to see similar subjects grouped together...makes me realize I've painted alot of varieties of blossoms, but also the same ones in different ways..

Inventing...

Like my last post...when you work from photographs it can be a bit daunting if the picture is not the greatest...in either composition, color or lighting...but you can always make a composite of several photographs and take the best from each to "invent" your own composition for your painting...which is exactly what I did for this piece "Rosy Cheeks", 14"x13".

Finding inspiration

A Sun Giant...It's funny when you look back through photos that you've taken searching for inspiration and one you might have passed over numerous times before all of a sudden jumps out and says "paint me today!" That's how this one came to be. (15"x15")

Sunglasses series

This piece and the last one could almost be my sunglasses series...I posted another painting several weeks ago of a lady in red with her fancy sunglasses on..I sense a series developing. I do have some others in the works...I'll post those when I finish them. Right now I'm back to some flowers...so keep an eye out for those.

Just one brush

This piece is 15"x22"...I have yet to tackle a full sheet wc of a figure/portrait. Seems like a lot of paper to fill up. I'm setting the goal to try it sometime. Are bigger brushes the solution? Maybe. I love round brushes..usually size 12 or 14 and will use just one brush to complete a whole piece.

comfort zone

Back to someone else's portrait. Had some nice comments about Tuesday's post...self portraits are always tough...I am still dabbling in the portrait/figure subject matter. Great fun and certainly not easy...but then again stretching your artistic muscles shouldn't be easy.. I'm reaching out and extending past my comfort zone.
