Trying to revisit some favorite subjects and reinvigorate my studio practices....if you find yourself out and about you can safely visit Furchgott and Sourdiffe Gallery in Shelburne and find my work back on their walls for a group show. This painting however is still not ready to fly my studio coop!
I’ve been following an online prompt list by They Draw and Cook of their own version of Inktober. I’m filling a watercolor sketchbook page every day with many different food related items. It’s been fun to continue a theme and come up with these layouts. I’m posting them every day on Instagram...if you have a chance check out all the unique takes from so many varied artists!
Had a nice outing last Sunday with a few members of the Vermont Watercolor Society and we had a Plein Air session! It felt great to get outside and do some painting and chatting! It’ll get tougher as we head for colder temps! Lake Champlain from Charlotte Beach. 11”x15”
Hello everyone...I hope this finds you well and staying safe. I’ve been trying to stay creative in order to occupy my mind and my hands...sometimes that’s not easy to do..but galleries are open in Vermont and I’m working on framing some new work to get them out there and on display! Also as you can see by the picture my card sets on Etsy are still available and ready for you to send some color to a loved one. Here in Vermont the fall leaves are putting on quite a show! 🍁
My painting “Fading Farm” is on exhibit at the Bryan Gallery in Jeffersonville for their “Land & Light & Water & Air” group show.
I dropped off another painting for the show and that sold within 10 minutes while it was leaning against the wall! So if you click the link you will see that painting in the show preview. The above painting replaced that one....
This is my painting “Spring came Regardless” that is part of the Stay home/Stay Safe group show at the Firehouse Gallery until October 10. All pieces are for sale for $250.00 and measure 24”x36”. Mine is a mixed media acrylic abstract. Here is the link to the show with recordings of the artists describing their work. I went last week to check it out and it is an interesting mix of work on a common theme. You can see the show from the comfort of your home, because there is a virtual link as well!
Announcing a show that has been postponed from the spring...”Into the Woods” at the Gruppe Gallery in Jericho. This is a juried Vermont Watercolor Society group show and is happening soon! My painting “Beckoning Birches” was selected. The show will be up from July 23 to August 23. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday 10 - 3.
It is officially summer and the hazy, hot and humid days that go along with that are also officially here! So watering gardens is a priority as is watering myself by staying hydrated. This cosmos piece was done as my demo during my Plein Air watercolor workshop from a couple weeks ago. Painting outside in hot weather with a mask on is certainly a new experience, but it is possible..so keep wearing those masks and paint on! 🖌🎨
Hello everyone...I’m announcing a one day workshop to be held two weeks from today! Yikes! I know this is short notice and will be dependent on many things...the biggest being the weather since it will be entirely conducted outdoors en Plein Air! If you are interested in joining me (from an appropriate distance) to paint at the sprawling Horsford Nursery in Charlotte on Saturday June 20..drop me an email and I’ll get you all the pertinent information, registration is directly through me.
Limited class size of 9 participants. $75.00 pp
I look forward to painting with you!
“Art in the Garden” a 2020 summer series sponsored by Horsford Gardens and Nursery, Charlotte, Vermont.
Hello all! Here’s a colorful imagined landscape to wish you a good weekend and Memorial Day. The weather is supposed to be nice here in Vermont and the sunshine is certainly a mood booster. I need to repack my Plein Air painting bags (one for oil and one for watercolor) and head out there sometime soon.
I thought I would check in with you all and see how you are doing? Plus it’s a chance to bring some color to your inbox. I’m also participating in the artist support pledge on Instagram where I offer paintings for sale and if I make enough sales I pledge to purchase another artist’s work. It’s a cycle of support for small artisans.
Here is an oil painting on cradled wood panel 8”x8” that is normally $395.00 but I’m offering for $200.00 (shipping is additional) send me a message if you’d like to add this to your collection.
Also here are some unframed, unmatted little original watercolors 6”x6” for $100.00 each (plus shipping)
Above is some new work from current efforts and a rooster from a few years ago...
Be well and I hope we will cross paths some time in the not so distant future in a gallery, a workshop or some other setting...until then we connect virtually!
I have found my painting enthusiasm has dwindled a bit as of late...I guess that’s okay..maybe my muse will stop by sometime soon again...in the mean time I have been sending my cards around to my retail Co Op stores as they are selling for Mother’s Day and general note sending...and for that I’m grateful. Wishing you a safe and healthy weekend to honor your Mothers.
I’ve been painting some new to me imagery like this Clematis. It’s the first time ever painting this botanical! Isn’t that funny...so many paintings of poppies, sunflowers, peonies etc...but this is my one and only clematis..but hopefully not the last! I’ve been busy restocking my Etsy store and while this watercolor has yet to make an appearance in a card set it will at some point in the future! My galleries remain closed, but I’m happy that I can provide some snail mail sets for your correspondence or gifting needs.
also Sunflowers, Farms, Irises, Tulips and several others...🌻
...and when galleries reopen...stop in to visit ArtHound Gallery in Essex, Artisans’ Gallery in Waitsfield, Frog Hollow Vermont Craft Gallery in Burlington, Boulder Art Gallery in Fitchburg, MA and Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville. Be well everyone!
Thank you for your continued interest and support of my art-ventures!

I hope this post finds you all well and healthy as we navigate these unusual times. I’ve had my share of ups and downs, but I am trying to find ways to figure out how to get my creations out into the world...since all my galleries are currently closed. Here is my first attempt...I have put together some card sets for you. These are limited editions (currently 1 set each) and will be sold on a first come first served basis...I have posted these on Instagram (@abwatercolors) as well and will update if these are sold out. The snow is melting before my eyes with springlike temperatures and thoughts of changing seasons, gardens, growing and greener nature filling my mind and my sketchbook! But I know March and April can be a bit unpredictable still...at least we get more light after this weekend...clocks ahead!
Join me to paint some blossoms in Jeffersonville at the Bryan Gallery the last weekend of March. Watercolor workshop March 28 & 29
It’s good we get an extra day this year in February...it seems I need it since it’s been almost a month since my last post! Anyway...hope your leap month has been treating you well and you’ve been surrounded by color...if not, here is some from me to brighten up your week. 😉
Happy New Year! About two weeks in and I’m wishing you a colorful 2020. I’m looking forward to experimenting with more materials and mixing it up a bit. Last year was one of changes as I shifted some of my gallery representation. You can now see my work, including my abstract acrylics at Artisans’ Gallery in Waitsfield, ArtHound Gallery in Essex and a soon to be refurbished and sparkling Frog Hollow on Church Street in Burlington. Boulder Gallery in Fitchburg Mass. continues to show my prints. Plus I’m thinking of doing some direct selling and offering some specials here on my blog and on Instagram...so stay tuned!
