Red, White & Blue

My rendition of the latest Different Strokes challenge.
This was done on a 7.5" x 7.5" piece of paper. I usually
do them in my journal, but decided to use my "regular"
watercolor paper and see if I could apply my "regular"
painting approach. Journal paper is quite different and
doesn't take as well to the watercolors...it works great to
just record you sketches, but for layering...not so.

Ooooh--this is beautiful! Do I detect a Charles Reid influence here, too? It's a wonderful portrait. I love this.

I've been lurking silently for weeks. I love the loose style of your watercolors. This is particularly nice. The colors and depth, beautifully don. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Annelein, you did a wonderful job on "The Man" as I referred to him after he ended up hanging around a lot longer than I had planned.

Hope your summer workshops are going well—Jennifer

Absolutely fantastic loose, precise watercolor! I love it! That's the style I try for but very seldom achieve! Something to strive for.
