look on the sunny side

"Sun Giants" 13"x13"
Memories of summer giants, sitting underneath looking up and through at the blue sky beyond. This painting actually started off quite painfully...You know when you have one of those moments while you are painting and you just want to throw in the towel..or the brush in this case. But there is this fine line of persevering and trying to apply everything you know about painting and hoping beyond hope to not come out the other end with a dog...This was one of those times..I ended up being fairly satisfied with this piece and my decision to stick it out!

Glorious blues and yellows! And what luminosity!

Seems like every painting goes through some kind of 'ugly stage' - at least from that point on you don't have to much worry about ruining it!

This turned out lovely! So bright and happy.

My sunflowers were gorgeous this last summer - the only things that really did well in my garden actually - and i can't wait to get some paintings done of them.

A great accomplishment Annelein! And the foliage is so layered and full of depth.

Beautiful, Annelein! Your composition is wonderful and I love the colors. The sunflower has so much to offer and you have painted all its best features.

I can relate...Sometimes I give up on a painting and then come back weeks later and wondered what was so terrible. We have one of those hanging in our home. Then there are times when I've come back and thought...yup it's a gonner...burn that baby.
