drawing to paint

I had great fun with this piece..it was from a photo Mel provided and I decided to give it a go. The lesson learned from this piece is that a drawing that works and is in proportion is really the foundation of a good painting....drawing...the "secret" to painting..who knew?

This works so well with the light. I always enjoy your choice of colors and what you share on your blog so much so that I added you to my list of favorites on my blog.

This one is wonderful, Annelein. I like how you have a secondary figure and the way you divided the space with value and shapes.

I fully believe that drawing is the secret to painting. That's why I've been going to a drawing class every Monday for five years.

Exactly! I decided to revisit a painting that was about to go in the garbage. I haven't seen it over a month. The problem..the drawing. I fixed it and now it here to stay for a while.

Good watercolour Annelein, with perfect drawing of the main figure, and contrast with the figure in the shadow.

This is so lovely! I almost feel as though I am there, looking across the street on that bright, sunny day! I love the way you have used the colour in his clothing - Very cleverly done, and the spattering on the wall to create the texture too. Gosh, this really is wonderful! :0)
