at a time in the season when sunflowers were at their
peak...I love painting that way...what's available.
There was a comment linked to yesterday's post
asking if I mask or paint negatively...I've taught some
workshops on this technique and I always say:
"There is nothing negative about negative painting!"
...so there is the answer...alot of negative painting.
I love the way it makes the foreground pop...and if you
are careful with your transparent pigments you can build
up quite a few layers. The lily buds in the upper right hand corner
of this painting were done that way as well.

Beautiful! Sunflowers always remind me of Italy and miles of yellow fields...ahhhhh.
Annelein, I see what your up to in your Yellow Week with the " last week of Red " peeking through in the upper right hand corner !! Again, I can never get enough of your sunflowers. I like what you said about painting what's available. I can help make up your mind as to what to paint when stuck. ( what do I paint now !!! )
