I always paint the comb first and then the wattle,
leaving the eye to almost two thirds of the way through
the painting. Once the eye gets painted their personality
starts to comes through! That's when they really give you
their stare-down, or curious quirky look as if to say:
"Why you lookin' at me?"

very nice....
Hi Annalein! Lovely once again! I cannot find the previous cock you painted, maybe I entered you blog by the wrong 'door'.
oh what a beauty!! The feather detail ,,the background....his face....this is a winner!!!
I always enjoy your rooster/chicken paintings!
Absolutely love your chickens. I think I'll go out this morning and get some Silkys... Lovely painting Annelein.
Great painting Annelein, this would be awesome on a big canvas - what size was this one? I grew up on an organic farm and the stare down by the chickens can sure be unnerving. : )
Another great chicken painting. Love how he is leaning. It leads you right in.
He looks like he rules the roost!
This is stunning!
He's got such personality!! Love it!
